How to have a video call with Santa?

We understand you may have a few questions about a live video call with Santa Claus this Christmas.

We have detailed a list below of Frequently Asked Questions which we hope will give you some answers before your chat with Santa.

If you don't find the answer you are looking for do feel free to contact the team here at Santa's Calling You.

  • What technology/device will I need to make the video call?

Santa's Calling You North Pole Communication Device is more widely know as 'Zoom'.

Therefore, all you need is a device which is able to make or receive video calls, preferably with the Zoom app installed, and a stable internet connection.

  • Is the call pre-recorded or live?

    All calls are 100% live.

  • Is it safe?

Santa's Calling You takes safety and security incredibly seriously. All of our Santas, Mrs Claus & Elves are DBS checked.

They also go through an in-depth training programme to the standards you’d expect.

The video call itself is a private link that is password protected. Once you are on the call, the video call is locked so that nobody else can join.

As part of your booking terms and conditions a parent or guardian (aged 18 or over) must be viewable with their children on the call (if a child is on their own at any point then the video call will be terminated).

Your safety, privacy and protection is our utmost priority, alongside a creating a truly magical Christmas experience!

We record all video calls for security purposes and are safely stored, encrypted, and deleted after 7 days.

We also offer the option for you to purchase a copy of the recording at the time of purchasing your video call.

  • What dates are you taking bookings?

Santa's Calling You will be taking bookings from Friday 1st December 2023 until Sunday 24th December 2023 inclusive.

For current availability please go to our booking page.

  • How long does the video call last?

Each video call will last from between 8 minutes and up to a maximum of 10 minutes.

We understand that some families don't think this will be long enough, especially if there are several children. We have therefore added the option to add on additional time to your call or even have a story read.

  • How many people can be on the video call?

We recommend no more than 3 children are on the standard call, however we understand some families may need extra time and so we have an added optional extra's of five minutes additional call time or a story time add on.

Have more than one household that will be joining the call? No problem just mention this in the information box so we can admit extra devices into your secure video call link.

  • Can I add additional 'secret information' after I have made my booking?

You most certainly can! You can add more information to your booking by emailing us up to 48 hours before your video call time.

  • Can Santa be called Father Christmas?

We understand that each family is different in what they call Santa. Be it Santa, Santa Claus or Father Christmas.

If you wish Santa to be known as Father Christmas during your call this is fine. Just mention it in the information section when making your booking.

  • How much does it cost?

Prices vary depending on what type of live video call you would like and also when.

    Prices start from £19.99.

To check cost and availability you can do this via our booking page.

  • What if I miss my video call?

Unfortunately if you miss your appointment it will not be possible to claim a refund or re-book.

  • Are video calls just for the UK only?

Although Santa's Calling You is based in the UK we do offer a worldwide service, after all every child should have the ability to see Santa at Christmas.

  • Does Santa Claus only speak English?

Yes, we only offer an english speaking service.

  • Are the calls really from the North Pole?

All of our cast are based in the UK and use green screen technology to make it look and feel like the video call is really being made from the North Pole.

  • What is the difference between going to a Santa's Grotto and having a Live Video Call from Santa's Calling You?

Here are just a few reasons...

    • A much more personalised experience, where the believability is strengthened due to the information you provide prior to the call. Not just a child's name and age!
    • Knowing what Santa you will be getting!
    • No waiting in a queue in the cold!
    • No chance of cancellation due to COVID-19 (after all it's already cancelled too much these past few years, but it won't cancel Christmas!)
    • A truly magical family experience at a date and time to suit you
    • A copy of the experience for you to cherish in years to come (optional purchase)
